Job Description:

Locum Childcare Lawyer

Sheffield - Local Authority role (Likely hybrid working)

Initial 3-6 month contract

Rate: Negotiable, Indicate rate sought (Umbrella)

 

37 hours per week

 

To provide a Litigation and Advocacy Services on behalf of the City Council. These duties must at all times be carried out in compliance with the Council's Equal Opportunities Police and the Council's current position on equality standards as set out in the Equality Charter.

 

Duties

  1. Advice and representation on all aspects of childcare care law
  2. Conduct of legal proceedings before the courts and tribunals
  3. Advocacy, advice and legal drafting as required and as a necessary part of the conduct of legal proceedings before the courts and tribunals
  4. Representation at and advice to committees, boards, meetings, members and officers and outside bodies as required
  5. To prepare and deliver training to council personal as required
  6. To participate in the office hours duty advice rota and the out of hours duty rota.
  7. Provide legal advice and support to enable the local authority to fulfil its Statutory and strategic functions
  8. Work together with Legal Services management in the development of efficient and effective client/customer relationships
  9. Interpret and apply new and existing legislation and policies
  10. Continuously develop the quality of legal services provided
  11. Support and/or mentor colleagues and team members to achieve best practice as required
  12. Maintain the post holders own level of knowledge and training and comply with all professional requirements imposed by regulatory bodies and/or the council.
