Venn Group are pleased to be recruiting for an Education Lawyer to join a welcoming and reputable local authority in the North West on a locum basis for 3 months initially, while the council undertake permanent recruitment. It is very likely to be a more long-term arrangement. 

Someone with experience in handling Education/SEN matters, within a Local Authority, that would be able to hit the ground running is required. Other responsibilities of the postholder will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing a caseload of complex cases, comprising mainly SEN admission appeals, with minimum supervision
  • Advise on Education law generally, including the preparation of proceedings in relation to Schools and Academies, parents, and pupils.
  • Providing advice and assistance to the SEND team.
  • Main caseload involves pre-action letters before judicial review in SEND matters, ad-hoc general education advice to schools and the authority
  • The legal team do not have conduct of Tribunal matters

The successful Education Lawyer will ideally be able to undertake this role on a full-time basis, however candidates seeking a part-time working pattern will be considered.
