Job Description:

Locum Homelessness Lawyer (Fully Remote)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Homelessness Lawyer to join a well-established Local Authority legal team on a temporary basis, within their newly established Homelessness Emergency Casework Team. This is a fully remote, full-time position, offering a competitive hourly rate.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a legally qualified professional with a strong background in homelessness law to support a busy team in managing and responding to legal challenges. This is a temporary assignment expected to last 5 months initially, with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on the statutory responsibilities of local authorities under homelessness legislation

  • Manage legal challenges raised by applicants, their advocates, and legal representatives

  • Support Team Leaders and Duty Managers in escalated cases.

  • Draft comprehensive written responses to legal correspondence

  • Handle telephone enquiries professionally and efficiently

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience dealing with homelessness applications and related legal work.

  • Proven ability to manage complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Immediate availability is highly desirable.

Contract Details:

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Duration: 5 months initially

  • Working Arrangement: Fully remote

  • Hours: Full-time preferred, part time will be considered

  • Rate: £55–£65 per hour (DOE)
