£63,859 - £72,118 per annum

Job summary
You will undertake a broad range of Band 2 infrastructure or local plans casework, across various consenting frameworks (Planning Act 2008, Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, Highways Act, Transport & Work Act, Electricity Act etc), with a focus on National Infrastructure or local plan examinations, applications or local plan examinations to time and to the required quality standards.    

Conduct examinations, hearings and inquiries in which there may be high levels of public interest and engagement, as an individual Inspector or panel member, to the required standards and deadlines.  

Job description
We are looking for inspectors with the enthusiasm, skills, experience, behaviours and technical knowledge required for these roles and, who can contribute to the wider work of the Planning Inspectorate as required.  

Your interpersonal skills will be just as important as your technical know-how, as you will work with others to lead and manage casework including public events sensitively but with authority.  

To work as a member of a team with both individual and collective responsibility for achievement of a shared programme of work.

Be a pro-active role model for the Inspector Profession, leading by example and embodying the Planning Inspectorate’s Core Values.   

Contribute to and support wider organisational initiatives and projects to enable the organisation to meet its operational and strategic aims.   

Contribute to the development of new ways of working, systems or processes which would improve performance, service delivery and customer satisfaction and contribute to continuous improvement.   

Support the development of other Inspectors through the preparation of training materials, the delivery of training and assisting with the quality assurance of recommendations and decisions.   

Be responsible for your continuing professional and personal self-development.  

Ensure personal and organisational data is stored and managed in line with organisational policies and procedures.   

Ensure work activities are carried out in accordance with Planning Inspectorate health and safety policies, procedures and guidance.  

In addition to the immediate appointments, we are looking to create a list of appointable persons organised by merit (the merit list). This will be used to fill any additional posts as they become available over the next 12 months. This means that no matter your current casework or wider background if you are ready, we want you to apply!
