£63,510 - £70,437 per annum

We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Principal Lawyer for the Adult Social Care and Education team at HB Public Law (HBPL).

You will undertake varied, high-quality work with like-minded and supportive colleagues who are committed to public service and excellent client care.

HB Public Law is one of the country’s leading shared local authority legal practices between a number of Northwest London and out of London boroughs; it is Lexcel accredited, and we pride ourselves on delivering a high-quality service.  Staff are employed by Harrow Council but work for several public sector clients.

About you
The successful candidate will be expected to lead and develop an existing and highly motivated team, as well as to personally undertake matters of a more complex nature.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed assistant principal lawyer with an ability to support our clients with a proven ability to develop others.

Duties will include but not limited to
  • The successful candidate will be required to carry a full caseload relating mainly to Education matters, with a focus on Special Educational Needs Tribunal work and advice.
  • Advising senior officers and elected members in a proactive and politically sensitive manner.
  • Overseeing and advising complex cases in all areas of Education including SEND Tribunal matters.
  • Supporting the strategic development of HB Public Law jointly with the chief legal advisors, principal lawyers, and other assistant principal lawyers.
The successful candidate will not only have extensive previous Adults social care experience but will also be passionate about teamwork and developing others.  A high level of client contact will be involved in this role and therefore it is essential that you exhibit good client care skills and can build strong working relationships with others.
