Locum Lawyer (Governance)
York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority
Initial 3-6 month contract
Rate: Umbrella, negotiable (Indicate rate sought)
37 hours per week
The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is seeking a locum Lawyer for a temporary assignment of approximately 12 weeks. As the role involves dealing with policing work of a sensitive nature, the successful candidate will be required to undertake police vetting following their start.
The role will be on a hybrid basis in Northallerton/York, with the ability to attend in person meetings and committee meetings.
The main tasks assigned to the right person will be:
- Working on the review of the Combined Authority's constitution.
- Developing a scheme of delegation with colleagues in the Finance Department.
- Supporting the Independent Remuneration Panel with their review of remuneration of certain roles.
- Working with colleagues in the Finance Department around the Annual Governance Statement and ensuring continuous monitoring against any actions.
Experience should include:
- Public sector/local authority experience
- Experience in governance, including experience in reviewing constitutions and developing schemes of delegation
