A well-regarded local authority in the South West is looking for a dedicated Locum Housing Disrepair Lawyer to join their legal team on an initial 3-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a full caseload of housing disrepair matters, including pre-action protocol, litigation, and settlement negotiations.
Provide legal advice to housing and property teams across the council.
Draft and review pleadings, witness statements, and correspondence.
Attend virtual court hearings and case conferences as required.
Liaise with external parties including counsel, surveyors, and solicitors.
Requirements:
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with a valid practising certificate.
Demonstrable experience in housing disrepair law, preferably within a local authority or public sector setting.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 and the Defective Premises Act 1972.
Ability to work independently and manage a busy caseload efficiently.
