SEND Tribunals Paralegal

London Local Authority

Full or Part Time Hours

Locum 6 months+

Remote Working

A well-regarded local authority in London is seeking a SEND Tribunal Paralegal to join their friendly team. This is a locum contract for a minimum of 6 months initially, with a view to extend further.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide support to the department's lawyers dealing with matters relating to the Council's SEND Tribunals, other tribunals and corporate related functions
  • To manage casework on matters relating to the Council's Tribunals and corporate related functions
  • To conduct casework on legal matters including evaluation of evidence, case preparation and, where appropriate, advocacy
  • Instruct counsel as necessary, arrange case conferences and attend with counsel at hearings/inquiries as required
  • There are also opportunities to become involved in Employment Law matters in the team (optional)

To be considered for this locum SEND Tribunal Paralegal role, you must have prior experience of dealing with education law and SEND (Special Education Needs and Disability) matters.

The hours for this role can be flexible, so they are open to both full-time and part-time applicants. The council operates a hybrid working model, with office attendance required once every 2 weeks as a minimum.
