Do you have a proven track record of providing legal advice and conducting case work across a range of issues affecting Local Government?
If so we have a unique opportunity to work at the centre of East Sussex County Council, reporting directly to the Monitoring Officer and ensuring that the highest standards of corporate governance are maintained by the Council.
This role works at the heart of the County Council, with responsibility for providing advice to Members and senior officers about decision-making, effective corporate governance, appeals and complaints. You will support the Council's Monitoring Officer, helping to ensure that the Council makes lawful decisions and is acting in the best interests of the local community.
We are looking for a practising Solicitor/Barrister who is able to understand and interpret Local Government legislation and procedures, providing prompt and accurate legal advice on a range of matters to both County Councillors and officers. You must be able to communicate complex legal matters to a wide audience, to research and analyse the law and guidance related to a range of situations and apply it to the County Council. You should be able to work both independently and collaboratively, managing a varied portfolio of tasks.
