Job Description:

Housing Disrepair Lawyer

LB Enfield

Initial 3-6 month contract

Rate: Umbrella, negotiable

35 hours per week

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented and ambitious professional to join a friendly, committed and highly regarded in-house legal team to help the Council deliver best value in relation to housing stock, as well as making a real contribution to the quality of life and sustainability of the borough.

 

Having set up a designated Housing Disrepair Team we are looking to recruit an experienced Housing Disrepair Lawyer to manage the 3 legal officers and drive the team agenda.

 

The postholder will carry a varied caseload and will undertake all aspects of legal work relating to housing disrepair cases at all stages of Pre-Litigation/Litigation.

 

The post holder will ensure compliance with the Housing Disrepair Pre-Action Protocol, provide advice on the management of risk on complex and contentious legal issues, represent the Council in court and conduct advocacy where appropriate.

 

Skills required are the ability to negotiate and draft complex and sensitive agreements and documents in the area of housing disrepair.

 

The postholder and their team will set clear case strategies on their matters, assessing evidence to determine the likely prospects of outcomes.

 

Prior local government experience is desirable but not essential and we are looking for individuals who are accustomed to working at pace in a busy team.

 

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and drafting skills and the ability to provide clear and concise legal advice to a variety of audiences.

 

An interest in and enthusiasm for local government is important, as is the desire to work as part of larger project team.
