Locum Childcare Lawyer (Outside IR35) – Remote Working – £55 per hour Outside IR35 – West Midlands

Venn Group’s Public Sector Legal team are currently recruiting capable candidates to join a Local Authority as a Locum Childcare Lawyer in the West Midlands. 
 
Expected duration: 3 months initially with a possible further extension
Skill level: Qualified Lawyer (Solicitors, Barristers and highly experienced CILEX professionals)
Working pattern: Remote working with occasional in person court attendance required. Part time and full time candidates considered.
 
The successful candidate will have daily duties involving case-management and must be highly experienced in carrying out court work and may be expected to attend court in person when required.
 
Duties may include:
  • Managing a busy and varied caseload of Childcare cases to include all pre-proceedings
  • Advising at LPM and PLO meetings
  • Advising client departments on complex issues concerning Childcare law
  • Providing Childcare Public Law advice and undertake all aspects of Care Proceedings work
  • Attending and advise at meetings across the County attended by professionals, particularly Legal Planning Meetings and PLO meetings and other similar meetings as directed by the Principal Lawyer and/or Assistant Chief Legal Officer
  • Ensuring that decisions made by the client department are lawful and accord with County Council policy
  • Maintaining an awareness of all relevant legislation, policy and regulations related to childcare matter
  • Investigating and advising on implications of changing legislation, case law and codes of practice and policy and provide briefing notes and training for colleagues and client officers.
 
This is a position ideally looking for those who have existing experience of working within Local Government who is able to handle a busy caseload of Childcare matters alongside conducting their own advocacy with professional experience gained within Local Government.
An attractive hourly rate of up to £55 per hour Outside IR35 is offered for this position dependent on experience.
