Interim Legal Risk & Compliance Manager – Initial 6 Months+ – South East – Hybrid Working – Up to £450 per day Umbrella

Venn Group’s specialist Public Sector Legal team are currently recruiting for an Interim Legal Risk & Compliance Manager to join the Legal Team of a well-established Public Sector Organisation in the South East on an interim basis.

Reporting directly to the Director of Legal, this is an excellent opportunity to take on a senior position within an established in-house legal function, providing specialist advice and supporting the organisation’s approach to legal risk, regulatory compliance and information governance.

Role Details:

Position: Interim Legal Risk & Compliance Manager
Location: South East
Team: In-house Legal Team
Working Arrangement: Hybrid – approximately 2 days per week on site
Duration: Initial 6 months+ with the possibility of extension
Rate: Up to £450 per day Umbrella
Start Date: ASAP
Clearance: Active SC clearance essential

Duties may include:

• Supporting the Legal Team in developing and improving the organisation’s approach to legal risk and compliance.
• Providing specialist risk and compliance advice on national security, export controls and international regulatory requirements.
• Advising on information governance, information security and data protection matters, including the assessment of data protection breaches.
• Identifying, assessing and managing legal and regulatory risks across the organisation.
• Supporting the Director of Legal with the development and review of legal policies, procedures and compliance frameworks.
• Working closely with in-house lawyers and senior stakeholders to ensure legal and regulatory obligations are met.
• Contributing to legal risk reporting, assurance, training and compliance guidance.
• Line management responsibility for one Associate.

Candidate Requirements:

• Substantial experience in legal risk and compliance management, ideally within an in-house legal function.
• Strong Information Governance and Information Security background.
• Knowledge of national security, export controls and complex regulatory requirements.
• Experience providing specialist advice to senior stakeholders and working closely with legal teams.
• Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience developing policies, procedures, training and guidance.
• A relevant degree and active SC clearance is essential.
