Job Description:

£35,570 - £45,529 per annum (career graded post)

Mansfield District Council is an employer where everyone works together to help make the town and surrounding villages a better place.  Every day dedicated officers work on regenerating derelict sites, improving and maintaining the public realm, protecting public safety and helping residents lead their best lives.

To deliver this vision, the Council has created two new posts for solicitors or CILEX lawyers who wish to add breadth to their depth of experience.  The focus of the first post will be on housing disrepair work while the second post will prioritise employment and housing management matters.

You need not have worked in these areas before but will be knowledgeable in one or more of the following: anti-social behaviour, community safety, contracts, debt recovery, employment, environmental health, housing or licensing.  Ideally you will also have conducted civil or criminal litigation.  You will build upon your existing specialism and develop in new areas of law.

You will join a friendly and supportive legal team, where everyone works together in order to deliver the best possible service.  Clients will therefore be at the heart of what you do, requiring practical advice, effective drafting and solution-focused legal support.

If you wish to engage in rewarding work and enjoy a healthy work-life balance, please apply by specifying the particular post.  Candidates will be shortlisted based on meeting the essential criteria in the person specification and, where necessary, on how well the desirable criteria are met.  Up to £5,500 may be available towards relocation expenses.

Canvassing of Members of the Council (directly or indirectly) for any appointment shall disqualify the candidate for that appointment. Applicants should disclose if they are related to a Member or Officer of the Authority.

Closing date: 22 November 2026
Interview date: 8 December 2026
