Kirklees Council Legal Services is one of the largest legal practices in the area and is responsible for ensuring that the Council operates efficiently within the Law, meets its statutory responsibilities effectively and works in a proactive enabling manner to facilitate the policy objectives of the Council to meet the needs of the people of Kirklees.

We are looking for a motivated procurement and contracts lawyer to contribute positively as a senior member of Legal Services by providing customer focussed support in respect of a wide range of procurement, contracts, commercial and other legal work under supervision.

You will draft reports, tender documentation, contracts (including ICT and construction contracts) and other commercial documents and advise on such matters (including TUPE) and advise on Council policy and procedures, EU and other relevant law. Experience and knowledge of company law would be an advantage.

It is essential that you are either a qualified Solicitor or Barrister holding a current practising certificate, or a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives or equivalent.

You should be a confident, skilled and enthusiastic lawyer with a “can do” commercial approach which adds value for our client Services.

We offer mobile and agile working subject to management approval.
