Job Description:

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are delighted to be recruiting for a Locum Employment Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the West Midlands. This contract is offered for an initial period of 3 months with the possibility of further extension.
 
The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Lawyer with previous experience specialising in Employment Law, candidates from both private sector and public sector background are encouraged to apply.
 
Duties may include:
  • Providing advice to Senior Managers in Council departments and other Officers and staff in HR on a wide range of employment law issues and claims made against the Authority
  • Undertaking both contentious and non-contentious employment respondent work
  • Conducting a caseload which may include claims relating to Sex discrimination, Race Discrimination, Unfair Dismissal, Constructive Dismissal, Disability Discrimination, Age Discrimination and Redundancy
  • Advising the authority on TUPE matters
  • Providing advice on pensions matters, including disputed claims
  • Advising in relation to safeguarding employment disciplinary matters, Coroners Court Inquests, advising Strategic Schools Commissioning Board
  • Dealing with Equal Pay claims and associated litigation
 
Whilst the preference is for full-time, office based candidates, applications from those who can only offer part-time hours or require flexible working arrangements are also encouraged. An hourly rate of £30 - £40 (Umbrella) dependent on experience is offered.
