The salary range for the post is £45,639 - £55,130
 
We are looking for an experienced Solicitor or Barrister (or equivalent legal qualification or experience) to join the Council’s legal team to manage a wide range of property work and to personally undertake complex and high value property work. The post will include giving advice to senior officers and elected councillors on complex projects, including initial advice on property and governance issues such as powers, decision making and state aid issues.

The post holder will manage the property and planning team, be a member of and contribute to the Directorate Management Team, deputise for the Operational Manager and on occasions the Director of Legal and Governance and Monitoring Officer. The successful applicant must have experience of complex and high value property work, an interest in local government, and the ability to advise senior officers and politicians, motivate and manage staff and develop work systems and processes with the team.

We expect the individual appointed to take personal responsibility for delivering excellence, to work with others to achieve the best possible outcomes, to embrace change and new opportunities, to make the most of the resources available and to think and act in the best interests of the Council.

Cardiff Council’s Legal Service is Lexcel accredited and is based at County Hall in Cardiff Bay with good public transport links. We have specialist lawyers carrying out litigation, procurement, property, planning, governance, childcare and adult social services work, and aim to provide our clients with an excellent and comprehensive service.
