Supporting the Commercial Contracts and Procurement team, our close-knit unit of 12 enjoy working across a plethora of fascinating projects. Taking on tasks that are as challenging as they are career-defining, our people advise on complex large-scale Projects that enable the departments to achieve their ambitious targets.
 
We currently have a number of roles available within our friendly team, with the remit of providing commercial advice relating to contracts, procurements, shared and traded service models and company secretarial services. Our roles offer the unique level of support that comes with this team and provides a valuable opportunity to further your career in our well-respected team.
 
Leading a team of Lawyers across a complex caseload, you will provide strategic direction taking responsibility for delivery of all legal work required on complex projects. Working with both council colleagues and external clients, you will take responsibility for specialist areas, ensuring resources have been allocated appropriately and that commitments are being met.

You will also generate income and recover costs wherever possible, acting as a key legal adviser on projects of major corporate significance. As a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with significant post-qualification experience of providing senior-level advice within a local authority, on issues relating to commercial contracts and procurement, you will be adept at drafting documents when under pressure, and you will have an excellent knowledge of construction, engineering or IT contracts.
 
We will expect you to have the capacity to think analytically and take a creative approach to solving problems, and be customer-focussed with excellent negotiating and influencing skills. You will also have a good awareness of current legal issues, and your business and financial acumen will be exemplary.
