We are seeking to recruit a lawyer who specialises in Employment Law.

We also act for a number of external clients across the South West, including the Council's wholly-owned companies, a fire and rescue authority, in excess of 150 schools and academies and other local authorities.

About you
The ideal candidate will have significant experience of employment law practice, with excellent client care skills and be able to gain the respect and trust of colleagues and clients.

 • You will have significant experience of successfully dealing with high profile and complex employment law matters within a politically sensitive environment.

 • You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of mentoring others as well as good advocacy skills.

You should have an up to date knowledge of local government legislative framework and administrative law.  You must have a high level of negotiation, influencing and mediation skills.  Practical experience of democratic decision making processes and an ability to evaluate complex information and apply knowledge to the law to create solutions to complex and strategic problems is required.  The successful candidate should be able to deal with complex legal work and be an expert in employment law.

A degree or equivalent qualification and relevant qualification and/membership of a relevant professional body - Solicitor or Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with significant proven practical and theoretical legal experience and expertise on employment law matters is required.
