£33,332 – £38,312 per annum for 36 hours per week

About the Role
At Surrey County Council, within our Contracts, Procurement and Projects team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Lawyer. We are looking for a flexible and motivated colleague to join this friendly and progressive team. Applications are welcome from NQ-2 years’ PQE lawyers with some experience of public procurement.

Since April 2016 Surrey County Council Legal Services have been working in partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council and West Sussex County Council as part of Orbis Public Law. The vision is to create:
‘A single, resilient, sustainable cost effective legal service with a public service ethos with an ability and ambition to grow’.

This partnership creates one of the largest public sector legal services in the UK and presents unrivalled opportunities to share our knowledge, experience and understanding across teams and Authorities.

As the successful candidate you will conduct of a mixture of contracts, procurement and multi-legal disciplinary projects, including for external clients such as the Council’s trading companies. The work is fast paced and key to the delivery of the Council’s corporate strategy.

To be shortlisted for interview you will clearly demonstrate that you have experience of:

• Undertaking commercial negotiation of legal documents;
• Dealing with public procurement under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and associated legislation;
• Providing solutions-focused and enabling advice on a range of legal matters;
• Effective team working;
• Managing competing priorities to strict deadlines; and
• Exemplary client care.

The team is supportive and knowledgeable and there is a commitment to developing and training our in-house talent.
