Subject to Hard to Fill Package (pro-rata, annually reviewable). The post attracts a 5% Market Factor payment.

The pace of change in the past few years in the London Borough of Southwark has been remarkable.

The Borough is extremely diverse both by way of population and geography as it fronts a lengthy and pivotal stretch fronting the River Thames from near Waterloo Bridge to Greenland Dock in the east, and includes central London's largest residential development at the Elephant and Castle, the transformation around Canada Water and the increasing vibrancy of Peckham and Camberwell. Our team was Highly Commended in the recent Lawyers in Local Government Awards for their work on a range of regeneration schemes.

The Council offices are based at Tooley Street and are a short walk from the new London Bridge station and also Tower Bridge. Make a difference within the team of lawyers delivering a high quality service relating to planning and highways law within local government. We will look to you to attend and advise at formal meetings while handling a caseload of more complex and high profile matters. This will include advising the planning policy team and handling the litigation aspects of more contentious schemes and leading key departmental projects. The Team have also dealt with a number of high profile compulsory purchase inquiries in recent years.

The requirement
You will come to us with experience of cases or projects within the field of regeneration and planning. Skilled in building effective relationships at all levels, you will have an impressive track record of implementing good governance arrangements and achieving commercially sound outcomes. Above all, you will being part of a team of lawyers committed to the delivery of results and added value for its clients within a Borough which is the most exciting place to live, work, and do business.
