Job Description:

£44,241 - £47,206 inclusive of outer fringe allowance per annum
37 hours per week

We are looking for a Senior Litigation Lawyer to lead, manage and motivate our busy and friendly Litigation Team which sits within Legal Services.

This is a key role as you will be responsible for delivering the litigation legal service to the Council’s service departments. This includes housing possession, anti-social behaviour, debt recovery and commercial property litigation in the county court, and a wide range of prosecution matters in the magistrate’s court.

You will have an excellent knowledge of court procedures and be an accomplished advocate, as you will also deal with a personal caseload of the most complex litigation matters for the Council.

You will be familiar with the legal requirements of local government and be required to attend and advise at committees and provide legal clearance of committee reports. You will be committed to delivering a customer-focused service and being a positive ambassador for the legal team.

The litigation team consists of 2.4 (full-time equivalent) legal staff who will welcome a conscientious, supportive, highly organised and diligent team leader. For the team, you will be expected to demonstrate excellent leadership skills.

We welcome applicants who have previous experience of the all of the above or experienced senior litigation lawyers who are looking for progression to a management position.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
