Now is an exciting time to Join Cardiff Council’s Legal Service. We have expanded our team due to increased volumes of work and a drive to undertake most of the Council’s legal work in house.

We seek high calibre candidates with relevant experience who are able to deal with a varied and demanding workload and who are committed to delivering a successful in house legal service based in County Hall in the heart of Cardiff Bay.

We expect individuals appointed to take personal responsibility for delivering excellence, to work with others to achieve the best possible outcomes, to embrace change and new opportunities, to make the most of the resources available and to think and act in the best interests of the Council.

While the roles are demanding our flexible working policies ensure a healthy work life balance. All the posts are open to individuals who wish to have flexible working patterns, subject to meeting the needs of our clients and having mutual regard to the workings arrangements of existing team members.

We seek a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives or Graduate who has successfully completed either the Legal Practice Course or the Bar Professional Training Course, to join the Council’s legal team to undertake a wide range of Highway and Road Traffic law matters. The work will include; drafting section 38 and 278 Highway Agreements, public rights of way orders, various highway licenses, public space protection orders, traffic regulation orders and advising generally on such matters.

For exceptional candidates we are prepared to consider applicants who are graduates and have successfully completed either the Legal Practice Course or the Bar Professional Training Course but who have not previously been employed in a legal role. We would expect such individuals to have a strong academic record, be a quick learner and be committed to the post.
