Job Description:

£37,011 - £46,212
Town Hall, Reigate

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Planning Lawyer in a busy in-house Council legal team. Reigate & Banstead Borough Council is a very forward thinking authority with a fast moving commercial agenda.

We have undertaken a fundamental review of our legal service requirements, working with private legal expertise to develop a structure to meet the Council’s needs in a modern and proactive way; and which provides high quality work and great opportunities.

Our recently renovated office environment, agile working options and technology are fundamental in supporting you to be most at your most creative, and productive.

You will be working closely with the Council’s Planning team and will provide advice on complex planning matters, including development control, enforcement and planning policy issues.

You will be required to attend some meetings of the Planning Committee and advise members on matters of planning and property.   You should have high quality and up to date experience in planning law, and be able to manage a busy case load.

The work will be varied and challenging, with support from our developing partnerships with the private sector to enable you to develop your knowledge and career prospects.

In exchange for your expertise, experience and enthusiasm, we will offer support in continuing your personal and career development, in addition to providing a wide range of employment linked benefits.

We will provide you with competitive annual leave, and contribute 15% towards the LGPS pension scheme. You will also have access to a range of discounts including annual ‘Better’ leisure centre membership, local and high street stores, and salary sacrifice schemes including a cycle lease scheme, and childcare vouchers.

For an informal discussion about the role, please call Lidia Harrison, Legal Manager (Planning and Property) on 01737 276275.

We are proud to support the guaranteed interview schemes for those meeting the essential criteria for the role, under the Disability Confident employer scheme for disabled candidates, and the ‘Veteran’s scheme’ for ex-armed forces candidates.
