Locum Housing Lawyer – 3 Month Contract (Hybrid/Remote)

Venn Group’s specialist South East legal team is currently recruiting for a Locum Housing Lawyer to join a respected local authority on a 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing litigation professional seeking a flexible hybrid/remote position, with a minimum requirement of 2 days per week office attendance.
As a Locum Housing Lawyer, you will play a key role in supporting Exchequer Services income streams, handling a varied and rewarding caseload.
Main duties include:
Conducting general litigation activities, including issuing claims and reviewing applications and court/Tribunal documentation
Providing legal advice, support, and case management across housing rent, variable service charges, and Housing Benefit Appeals
Managing your own caseload of housing-related matters
Reviewing and authorising documentation prepared by officers for presentation before Courts and Tribunals
Exercising rights of audience in relation to the Council’s housing matters
Taking full responsibility and accountability for authorised cases, advice, support, case management, and legal representation concerning housing rents, benefits, and leasehold and freehold litigation
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEx with strong experience in housing litigation
Proven ability to manage a busy and varied caseload independently
Experience of local authority housing work is highly desirable
Advocacy experience and confidence representing matters before Courts and Tribunals
Ability to attend the office a minimum of 2 days per week
