Senior Governance Committee Manager

Interim

Rate - £400 - £430 Umbrella per day

Brighton, Hybrid-Working

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Governance Committee Manager to join a Central Government team on an interim basis. This role is responsible for shaping and delivering high-impact governance and secretariat services across several senior decision-making forums, as well as being accountable for driving governance and operational effectiveness and enabling strategic alignment across committee functions. This role is responsible for implementing operational procedures, supporting compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and embedding continuous improvement in committee operations.

The jobholder will be expected to operate at a senior level across the organisation, building and maintaining effective relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders, including DP Chair and members, CEO, COO, Executive Committee, CEO office, Non Executives, Senior Leadership Team, Case teams, and the wider Corporate Governance and Corporate Secretariat team.

Key Requirements for the Senior Governance Committee Manager:

The ideal Candidate for the Senior Governance Committee Manager role will include:

  • Governance Expertise: Proven experience as a governance professional from either private practice or public sector organisation, or demonstrable evidence of delivery against the outlined responsibilities.
  • Secretariat and Meeting Management: Experience in managing senior-level committees with a high standard of secretariat processes and ways of working, ensuring adherence to standards as set by HM Treasury/central government/Cabinet Office and associated regulatory and legal framework, and their application.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience in building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, both internal and external. Using best practices and techniques, with the ability to build collaborative relationships, manage conflict, and role model positive values-led leadership.
  • Legal and Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the role and responsibilities of the Determinations Panel, including the legislation, associated regulatory and legal framework, and their application.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Experience in managing and developing a team, including matrix management.

Key responsibilities for the Senior Governance Committee Manager:

The successful Candidate for this Senior Governance Committee Manager role will be required to:

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and operational delivery of DAC meetings, ensuring governance standards and procedural compliance are consistently met.
  • Lead the DPS team in providing high-quality governance support, strategic advice, management, and governance excellence to the Determinations Panel.
  • Including preparing agendas, information, reports, and other ad hoc papers in liaison with the Panel Chair.
  • Support the Panel in fulfilling its role and assist the DP Chair in shaping and defining the Panel's approach and objectives.
  • Ensure effective governance is maintained and provide assurance and compliance with the Determinations Panel procedure and applicable laws.
  • Lead, manage, and oversee the DPS team in providing effective support to the Panel, its Chair, and individual members.
