Democratic Services Officer

Rate: £20 - 30 per hour umbrella (Locum / Interim)

Location: East Anglia

Working: Hybrid (one day a week in office ideally)

About the Democratic Services Officer role:

Our client, a Local Authority based in East Anglia, is seeking a Democratic Services Officer or Committees Officer on an interim basis for an anticipated minimum period of 9 months.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with prior experience in democratic or member services.

The successful Democratic Services Officer will be able to work full time (or, 4 days per week) and on a remote basis besides attendance once a week.

Responsibilities of the Democratic Services Officer role:

  • Undertaking agenda planning, convening meetings, issuing agendas, and recording proceedings.
  • Ensuring timetables are met and co-ordination between committees and groups enhances the democratic process of the council.
  • To act as a member of the Democratic Services Team to promote effective democratic functions within the council
  • Ensuring that scrutiny functions are upheld within the decision-making process

Experience required for the Democratic Services Officer role:

Although prior experience within Democratic Services would be preferred, candidates with a strong background in administration, to include minute-taking, will be considered.
