Job Title: Locum Employment Lawyer
Location: Remote (occasional in-person attendance preferred)
Rate: £55-£60 per hour (inside IR35, negotiable for exceptional candidates)
Contract Length: 3 months initially
Start Date: Immediate - ideally by 30 July 2025
Overview:
A local authority is urgently seeking a Locum Employment Lawyer to cover a vacancy created by a departing locum. You'll take over an existing caseload of employment tribunal matters and provide ad hoc employment law advice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and run employment tribunal cases independently
- Provide clear and practical employment law advice to internal stakeholders
- Support or transition into a mixed caseload involving education law and/or litigation (optional)
- Attend occasional team meetings in person (preferred but not essential)
Requirements:
- Strong experience handling employment tribunals
- Ability to work independently and hit the ground running
- Ideally 5+ years PQE with local government or public sector experience
- Confident, adaptable, and collaborative team player
- Background in litigation or education law advantageous
