Interim Head of Legal – Contracts, Procurement & Information Governance
Local Authority – London
£600-700 per day (DOE)
Hybrid Working – 2-3 days in office per week
3-4 months initial duration
 
Panoramic Associates are excited to be working with a large legal team within a Local Authority based in the London, who are looking for an experienced Contracts and Procurement Solicitor to join them for an initial 3-6 months contract to take on a management role supervising and managing their commercial contracts and information governance team.  This role will also come with the opportunity to undertake Deputy Monitoring Officer responsibilities, supporting the current MO with governance work.

The successful candidate will be able to work on a hybrid basis in this position with office-based working 2-3 days per week required due to supervision aspects of the role. 

The role will involve providing support and supervision to a commercial legal team including several Solicitors and Legal Assistants.  You will be required to conduct 1-to-1s, monitoring workload allocation and ensuring the service operates effectively.   As the most senior person within the commercial team, you will be involved in advising on complex commercial matters and maintain effective working relationships with the senior client managers.  

Essential criteria:
  • A qualified Solicitor with a strong background working within local government advising on contracts & procurement. 
  • Good practical knowledge of Commercial Contracts and Procurement practices in Local Government including dealing with the drafting and negotiations of commercial contracts to include IT contracts.
  • Previous experience managing and supervising a team within a local government environment.
