Barking and Dagenham is a shared Legal Service with Thurrock Council. We are looking for a solicitor or barrister with extensive experience in children’s safeguarding for a job share. to join a but friendly, supportive and very well regarded team and to undertake stimulating and rewarding work with the satisfaction that comes from helping to achieve better outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to work on a Wednesday afternoon and all day on Thursday and Friday and will share a caseload with another children’s safeguarding solicitor within the team.

As a member of the team you will play a key role in contributing to its achievements; maintaining its exemplary Lexcel standards and establishing best practice procedures. Consulting across the business, your influence will extend far further than it would in a traditional legal team, and, as such, the ability to build positive working relationships with others is essential.

Our vision is to be a Legal Service that is recognised nationally as best practice in the public sector.

Experience of children’s safeguarding is essential. Local Government experience would be an advantage.

You will be able and committed to work in a flexible manner including outside normal office hours, when the role necessitates the same.

You will be expected to manage a workload of children’s safeguarding matters providing high quality advice for internal clients and to undertake advocacy.

The banding for this post will depend on experience and the salary will commence from £17,467.50 to £21,690.00 pro rata.

A Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure at Standard/enhanced level will be required for this post.
