£42,403 – £51,515 pa FTE (+ up to £5k market supplement)

About the role:
Horsham District Council is looking for a Senior Property Lawyer to join our dynamic Legal Services department. Assisting the Head of Legal and Democratic Services, you will provide an efficient and economic legal service to the Council in all matters pertaining to property law and practice. All flexible working options are considered including part-time.
 
As Senior Property Lawyer, you will be one of our go-to experts in the area, you will draft property contracts, leases, licences and transfer deeds and will assist with and provide clear and accurate written and verbal advice in this specialist field.  You will undertake conveyancing and property work of all kinds, including the acquisition and disposal of land, business and residential leases, landlord and tenant matters, development schemes and agreements, housing enabling work and assets of community value nominations.
 
You will help train, develop, and supervise our Property Lawyer and our Legal Assistant staff and provide support, guidance and mentor them. A key part of this role will be to work closely with these staff and to assist with their transition to fully qualified lawyers. Experience of training and/or supervising staff is important.  
 
About you:
To succeed as Senior Property Lawyer, you will be able to deal effectively with a range of people from different backgrounds using clear, concise, modern, and authoritative communication skills. You will have a systematic approach to your work and the proven ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Furthermore, you will be a confident IT user, someone who's committed to continuous professional development and who's able to communicate effectively with colleagues and be an excellent team player. You will also have proven drafting skills to enable you to produce clear and concise pleadings and documents. You will be admitted as a Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow Chartered Legal Executive.
