Job Description:
Up to £104k This will be the key leadership role in ensuring that the Council operates in a highly efficient manner, pursuing high quality provision in a cost-effective manner and proactively identifying and managing risk. Key areas of responsibility include: • Legal Services & Corporate Governance • Policy and Strategic Development • Human Resources • IT Working across this portfolio you can expect to play an involved role across the Council’s full range of services. Fundamentally, the organisation is financially resilient and has plans in place to meet current budget pressures. But these need to continually reviewed and refined – particularly set against the backdrop of rising energy costs and inflationary pressures. You will ideally be legally qualified and this professional expertise will be vital in assuring that key strategic and operational decisions are informed by robust legal advice and due diligence. Getting the detail right on process will ensure we are confident that key initiatives and programmes will stand up to scrutiny and challenge if required. We expect this postholder to take on the role of Monitoring Officer. Leading on policy development, you can expect to play an involved role in the development of our refreshed Council Plan, ensuring it captures the intention and ambitions of our elected members following on from the recent elections that can be measured through a set of realistic KPIs. We are reshaping our shared IT service to ensure that we are digitally enabled, that services are customer focussed and it will be your role to drive technological efficiencies and effectiveness for our communities with our partner council. It’s an opportunity that demands the ability to work across a wide range of subject matter and to bring an incisive insight to ensure that processes and policies followed are robust, evidence-based and open to scrutiny and challenge.
