About us

OneSource legal services is one of the most successful shared services in the country with over 70 fee earners providing comprehensive legal services to two Councils, schools and council owned companies.

We are Lexcel accredited and have made significant improvements since becoming an integrated team. Over 90% of our clients rate our casework as good or excellent. We are constantly looking for better ways to deliver legal services and we hope you will want to be part of this exciting challenge.

About the Job

We can offer a range of engaging work covering commercial matters from contracts, procurement, concessions, grants, companies, pensions, inter-authority arrangements, out/insourcing; to name but a few, in a dynamic business environment. Our Councils are delivering some of the largest estate regeneration, affordable housing and construction programmes in London and this is the best time to be part of some really exciting projects.

The team is based in stunning modern offices in the Royal Docks overlooking London City Airport, directly next to public transport to central, north, east and south east of London and neighbouring home counties.  From time to time our officers are required to travel to client offices within London Boroughs of Newham and Havering. We are at present largely working from home and have suitable technology, hardware and support made available to all staff.

About You

You will be a qualified lawyer with a good understanding of the workings of local government including its financial, legal and political context.  You will provide legal expertise in Contract and Procurement Law; contributing to the delivery of high-quality, solution-focused legal work, to clients in both Newham and Havering including a range of council-owned companies.

You will have excellent legal research skills including using online resources and have the ability to apply this to practical situations. Possessing good oral and written communication skills you will be adept at drafting concise, comprehensive contracts, letters and other formal legal documentation.

In addition, you will possess commercial awareness and understanding of client needs alongside excellent client care skills.

We welcome applications from those who are newly qualified and keen to develop into a commercial lawyer role.  We recognise the importance of developing and supporting staff in their roles and have established arrangements for training and development.
