Children's Solicitor 
Hours: 12 
Salary: £31,601 - £35,444 pro rata 
Location: Union Street 
Contract type: Permanent 

Herefordshire Council is seeking to appoint a children’s solicitor to be a legal advisor to our children’s wellbeing directorate (CWB). The post holder will be responsible for conducting their own caseload of children’s PLO and proceedings cases, taking an active role in advising and representing the CWB. The requirement of the role is to deliver a greater focus on PLO work to ensure that our cases are well managed, compliant with practice directions and ready to be issued, ultimately ensuring compliance with the 26 week timetable. 

This position offers great career opportunities with varied, challenging legal work plus advising in a political environment. You will join a legal team who support Herefordshire Council in carrying out all of its functions whether service delivery, development of strategy or delivery of major developments and initiatives. The service takes the lead for litigation on behalf of the local authority as well as working proactively with services to provide comprehensive legal advice, and guidance on a vast range of legal issue from commercial property transactions to employment law. 

The demand for the service has increased and will continue to see a pull on demand as the council addresses challenges and changes in the way it operates. It is also an opportunity to work in a beautiful county for an authority committed to ongoing improvement in all aspects of its organisation and service delivery.
