Grade 10/11 (salary £33,799 to £46,027 depending on experience)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a planning/highways lawyer to join our Lexcel accredited legal services team at Cheshire West and Chester Council on a permanent contract.  This role is in the Environment team, which provides legal and professional support to the Council in the areas of planning, highways, environment and regeneration law.

The successful candidate will be a solicitor, barrister or fellow legal executive with a minimum of 2 -year pqe, working for a planning authority and will be able to provide accurate, practical and timely legal advice with minimum supervision.

The main duties will be providing mainly planning advice; drafting and completing a range of planning and highway agreements; attend planning appeals and inquiries; advising on reports and attend Planning or other Committees; attending meetings and advising officers, members and Directors. You will also need to carry out legal research and support the legal managers, the Head of Legal and the Director of Governance.

We offer flexi time and ability to work from home but also work from our brand- new offices, when required. We provide training to support continuing professional development.

If you have relevant experience and are a skilful, organised and enthusiastic lawyer, who thrives in working in a busy environment and being part of a team, this role may be ideal for you.
