PO3-PO6  £35,745 pa - £46,845 pa (Starting salary dependent on experience)

Are you looking for a varying legal role where you can help make a true difference? If so we are wanting to recruit a Lawyer/Senior Lawyer to join our friendly and professional legal department at Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
 
This is a great opportunity to work in a thriving city with award winning parks, nature reserves, historic architecture, museums, galleries and first class leisure facilities Bradford Metropolitan District has it all. You will be based in the Bradford City Centre in the Grade One Listed City Hall and have all the benefits of the cultural, retail and leisure facilities that Bradford has to offer as the 4th largest Metropolitan District.
 
The Councils general conditions of employment apply including – 8 statutory holidays, 27 days’ annual leave and flexible working and flexi time.  In addition, we offer an excellent pension scheme through West Yorkshire Pension Fund and offer excellent learning and development opportunities
 
The successful candidate will be a solicitor or barrister entitled to practice in England and holding a current practising certificate or FCILEX and have demonstrable broad experience of employment law; experience of advocacy would be an advantage (at least 5 years’ experience required to achieve PO5-6).
 
The successful candidate will have good technical knowledge in the area of law concerned.
 
The post-holder will assist the Team Leader (TL) and Deputy Team Leader (DTL) of the Education Employment and Litigation Team in providing a high quality legal service primarily working in the area of employment law, receiving guidance and supervision from the TL and DTL and support from colleague lawyers where appropriate.
 
The successful candidate will be required to provide a professional legal service, exercise professional judgment and make all day-to-day operational decisions on allocated matters and cases.
 
From time to time the post holder may be required to assist in the other areas of work in Legal Services.
 
The Code of Practice on the English language requirement for public sector workers, Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016, requires that councils ensure that all candidates applying for customer facing posts must be assessed in order to establish their fluency in English.
