Job Description:

Take the lead in high profile property initiatives.

The wellbeing of our local community underpins every decision made at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. We want to ensure that every member of our community can excel, which is a notion shared by our friends at Westminster City Council. As such, we have created a highly respected Bi-Borough Legal Services team, in which the most innovative programmes of work are steered to successful completion. Join us in this team, and you will help us bring the most ambitious development and construction projects to life – and in the process, you will enhance our residents’ life-quality, and support the success of local businesses.

The Role:

Working across high-profile and politically sensitive residential and commercial development challenges, this is an exciting chance to take on a senior role in one of the country’s leading legal services. With our remit extending from new builds through to regeneration projects, we work under a great deal of scrutiny – and as such, we enjoy an innovative and dynamic working environment in which we are constantly challenging ourselves to deliver the best possible value for money. Join us in this friendly team, and you will have the support to push us even further as you extend our offering of specialist services to external clients.

Overseeing the work of a team of property and development Senior Solicitors, Solicitors, Legal Officers and Paralegals, you will ensure they are delivering high-quality results, and you will be committed to helping them develop their skills and knowledge – while you will have the autonomy to grow your own leadership, legal and professional capabilities. Handling negotiations and providing advice on all property-related matters, you will maintain a keen awareness of the commercial and corporate implications of your advice, and you will see to it that your team maintains the same focus too.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

This is a unique opportunity to join a community-minded department who support each other every step of the way. You will therefore excel in this role if you are keen to enhance the skills of your colleagues, and you are passionate about ensuring a great quality of life for our local population. With the capacity to juggle the needs of competing priorities, you will be an experienced Solicitor, Barrister or fellow of CILEx, with a broad knowledge of both Property and Local Government law. As this role requires strong leadership skills, you will have previous people or service management experience, with the ability to get great results out of your team. Providing legal advice to the most senior level stakeholders, you will be a skilled negotiator who has fantastic verbal and written communication skills, and you will have the gravitas to influence the shaping and delivery of a sector-leading legal service that continues to evolve to meet the needs of our clients.
