This is an exciting opportunity to join a Lexcel accredited, highly skilled and supportive legal service as a lawyer in our Environment Team. You will have the opportunity to manage a varied caseload, working closely with the Council’s Highways and Planning departments.

About the role
A qualified solicitor, barrister or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, your role will primarily focus on advising the Council as Highway Authority, including the drafting and negotiating of s278 and s38 agreements and advising on traffic orders and rights of way. There will also be opportunities to undertake planning-related work and to advise on nominations for assets of community value.

Experience of highway law is desirable and a good knowledge of planning law would be beneficial. Training will be available where needed to further develop your skills in these areas. Excellent client care, communication skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to develop in the role are essential.

We are mainly working remotely currently and this is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. This role is a full-time post but we also welcome applications from lawyers who want to work remotely, flexibly or part time.

Company information
We welcome applications from all sections of the community but particularly encourage applicants from a BME or White Other background as well as those who identify as disabled, LGB, male or trans as these groups are currently under-represented in our Directorate workforce.
