We provide a wide range of legal services to the London Boroughs of Merton, Richmond, Sutton, Wandsworth and the Royal Borough of Kingston, making us the largest local authority shared legal service in the country. As such, we are able to offer employment opportunities across all aspects of local government legal work. We take pride in offering a high quality and proactive legal service, bringing all the insight that being an in house service involves and combining that with commercial expertise and a breadth of experience smaller teams may not be able to offer.

We are based in South West London and in normal times, our team can work out of any of 5 locations as well as remotely - agile working has been business as usual for a long time in SLLP. We have a wide range of flexible working options and have developed a number of health and well-being initiatives over the years.

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic applicants, keen to develop their skills in a public sector environment. Please do not be put off if you don’t have local government expertise – it is your determination to provide a top class legal service which will matter most, the rest can follow.

In respect of employment, the successful candidate will deal with a wide ranging mixed caseload of complex, contentious and non-contentious matters. They should enjoy advising on the full range of discrimination and equalities issues, whistle blowing and unfair dismissal, be able to advise on and negotiate settlement agreements, whilst being comfortable assisting with TUPE and pension related queries.  A knowledge of Information Law and employers liability issues, together with the ability to deal with atypical cases in a practical way would also be helpful.
