£32,234 to £42,821 (Dependent on Experience)

Hours: 30-37

Wakefield Council and its health partners have a clear goal to make substantial health improvements in the Wakefield District through the delivery of public health functions and services and better partnership working. The legal team plays an important role in advising the Public Health Team on commissioning, procurement, contracting and partnership arrangements.

This is a permanent post provide an exciting opportunity to join our expanding team of experienced lawyers within the Commercial Law Team reporting to a Legal Manager – Contracts and Commercial in the team.

The main function of the role is to provide legal advice and support across a wide range of interesting and varied legal work and projects in the areas of public health commissioning, procurement, contracting and partnership arrangements to the Council’s Public Health Team.

This role is an attractive opportunity for a highly motivated lawyer to bring their experience and enthusiasm to the team and build on their experience and develop their own legal knowledge, experience and skills within a forward thinking and experienced team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer who have a can-do attitude, excellent organisational, drafting, legal research and communication skills, who are flexible and innovative in their approach and will help the team to advise and support the Public Health Team to effectively deliver its public health functions, aims and priorities.  

The post holders will be qualified and practising Solicitors, Barristers or Legal Executives.

The post is office-based at County Hall in Wakefield although flexible home working arrangements are currently available as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
