Job Description:

Salary up to £44,964 per annum (salary dependent on experience).

Leicestershire County Council’s in-house Legal Services has an exciting opportunity for a litigation lawyer to join its friendly and busy litigation team based at County Hall, Glenfield.

The ideal candidate will have experience in working in local government or in private practice and will have a good track record in advising on a wide variety of litigation matters (whether civil or criminal or both).

Eligible candidates should have qualified as a solicitor, barrister or legal executive and should also possess relevant experience dealing with a range of contentious litigation. 

The successful candidate will be expected to handle their own caseload of litigation matters to include, inter alia, contract, personal injury, public law disputes and prosecution/ regulatory work.

In due course, the role will also require the successful candidate to advise on information governance issues (including data protection & freedom of information) but it is not necessarily expected that the successful candidate will have gained previous experience in that area.

Leicestershire County Council is a high performing authority that offers free parking, flexible working arrangements, and membership to a good pension scheme.
