About the role

Surrey County Council is looking to expand and consolidate our successful in-house legal team in the area of child protection. We have created new and exciting opportunities within our children's social care team for a Principal Lawyer, two Senior Lawyers and a paralegal.

We are looking for two flexible, motivated and ambitious solicitors or barristers to join our progressive service. Senior Lawyers within the team hold a complex, interesting and varied workload with the opportunity to develop themselves and others through supervision of junior members of the team.

The team is skilled and Lexcel accredited. Feedback from the inspection is that the induction and supervision of lawyers is an area of good practice. The variety of quality case work in Surrey presents all lawyers with opportunities to develop their knowledge, experience and understanding.

For this role, you will be expected to contribute to the management of the childcare team, undertake advocacy and hold a quality caseload of complex matters. We are looking for a candidate with experience of or a demonstrable commitment to developing management and supervisory skills.
