£35,934 - £40,760 per annum

Based at: Legal Services, Civic Centre, Port Talbot

An opportunity has arisen for a Care, Support and Financial Recovery Solicitor/Barrister at Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council for a fixed period of two years from the date of commencement.

The post will require the successful applicant to work with officers to establish fit for purpose assessment and case management and performance management processes within children, adult and legal services to ensure that the Council only provides care and support under the continuing care and health care legislation (principally Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and to undertake a review of funded packages of care by the Council to determine whether responsibility for such funding correctly remains with the Council or should be otherwise funded and to challenge such arrangements where appropriate: and seeking to recover of any outstanding fees as appropriate.

The post will also require the successful applicant to undertake, provide and assist in the legal services provided to the Council in respect of its functions of both a contentious and non-contentious nature in respect of financial matters stemming from service provision including recovery of fees owed to Council.

The post requires the successful applicant to have a sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations, case law, policies and practices with regard to social services, health related law and practice (including continuing care and continuing health care) and debt recovery law and practice.

The post is a fixed term post until the 31st March 2022.
