About the role
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Head of Legal & Deputy Monitoring Officer to join this thriving multi-million pound organisation and take the professional lead in highly complex, contentious and sensitive legal matters.
 
Oxfordshire County Council and Cherwell District Council are working in partnership and this position will be responsible for ensuring lawful decision making across both these organisations. This senior management role will report to the Director of Law & Governance and work closely with the Chief Executive, senior officers and political leaders across both Councils.
 
Who we need
 
A highly motivated individual and exceptional legal professional, you must also be a senior leader ready to take on this exciting new challenge. Effective joint working and management of relationships is essential.
 
The Head of Legal will lead, manage and direct a comprehensive legal service across six large and diverse teams. You will be an exceptional people manager with the stamina to manage and lead dynamic teams in a fast-paced environment.
 
You must be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister, and confident in your legal knowledge and expertise to take responsibility for the varied issues which come to you.
