Job Description:

Adult Social Care Locum Lawyer, South West

My client is a local authority legal team in the South West of England. Based close to the coast, this local authority serves and area full of heritage and countryside.

They are seeking to add an Adult Social Care Lawyer to their team for an initial 3 month assignment which could potentially be extended. This role would ideally be worked on a full time basis but part time applications will still be considered.

Duties will include:

  • Advising on mental health care, court of protection and after care issue
  • Advising on local authority jurisdiction issues
  • Liaising with mental health specialists in relation to the Mental Capacity Act
  • Undertaking advocacy where needed

Applicants should have at least 2 year’s post qualification experience in adult law from either the public or private sector. Applicants must also hold a current valid practising certificate.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEx with good understanding of local government law. The candidate will need demonstrable specialist knowledge of adult social care law, legislation and policy and be able to apply this with the context of local government.

Hourly rate is negotiable dependent upon experience but candidates can expect an offer of between £40 and £45 per hour, dependent upon experience (Inside IR35). 1 -2 days working from home each week can also be arranged, if required although as the nature of the role requires attendance at court candidates should be reasonable in their expectations for home working.
