Commercial Lawyer Locum, Hertfordshire

My client is a large local authority legal team in Hertfordshire. They are seeking to add a Senior Commercial Lawyer to their team for an initial 3 month assignment with the potential of an extension.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a high performing legal team who have proven resilient to change. My client has strong relationships with the wider public sector and therefore has many public and private arrangements for the post holder to lead on.

This post is offered on a full time basis with the client able to guarantee 37 hours work each week. My client can offer remote working one day per week.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEx with at least 3  year’s PQE or equivalent.

The ideal candidate will be able to offer clear and concise legal advice on procurement and contracts. They will be confident building relationships with all council departments, its companies and other related bodies on a wide range of services.

The ideal applicant will be a clear communicator with strong commercial skills. Expertise in drafting and negotiating contracts will be needed as well as the desire to achieve within a large multi –disciplinary legal team that really makes a difference to the local community.

Duties will include:

  • Drafting a range of general commercial contracts and agreements
  • Providing general contract, commercial and procurement advice
  • Providing commercial advice to council officers
  • Negotiating and drafting contracts covering all services provided by the Council
  • Supporting the Council in relation to its projects by drafting and advising on the commercial documentation

Hourly rate is negotiable dependent upon experience but candidates can expect an offer of between £40 and £45 per hour, dependent upon experience (Inside IR35).
